Panalpina has awarded a contract to Roadways Container Logistics to handle import movements on behalf of its Manchester, Birmingham and London Heathrow branches.
Roadways’ Manchester office has been designated Panalpina’s business co-ordination centre and its existing client portfolio perfectly complements Panalpina’s shipping line partners.
Alan Hewitt, Panalpina’s country head of Ocean Freight UK & Ireland said: ‘In studying our UK container transport arrangements we found that over 90 per cent was handled directly by the shipping lines. We wanted to identify an expert container logistics provider that could offer both operational and cost efficiencies while giving us more flexibility and control.”
