SCA, which produces paper products for personal hygiene, has brought in Swisslog to design an automated finished goods warehouse at an existing production facility in Hoogezand, The Netherlands.
Swisslog will act as general contractor for the design and realisation of a new automated warehouse for storage and distribution opposite the existing site.
The project consists of the civil construction of the buildings and a series of materials handling equipment installations, including a 30 metre high bay racking with 27,900 pallet positions, nine Vectura stacker cranes, a high throughput monorail conveyor, a depalletising robot and the fully integrated Warehouse Manager software and control systems.
Erection of the plant is due to start in November 2013 and start of operation is foreseen for March 2015. The order is subject to the issuance of the construction permit.
SCA produces personal hygiene incontinence care and baby diapers such as the brands TENA and Libero.
