Brake Bros has secured a Scottish regional distribution hub after agreeing a build to suit with Prologis for a building at Prologis M8 at Newhouse near Glasgow.
Standard Life Investments will forward fund the 172,600 sq ft facility which has been secured on a 25-year lease.
The new building, which is designed to achieve BREEAM 2011 ‘very good’ accreditation, will be a multi-temperature facility that will allow Brake Bros to consolidate its existing Glasgow operations into a new purpose-built facility. Following the customer’s fit-out works the building will be fully operational by October 2014. The agreement allows Brake Bros the flexibility to expand the facility by a further 50,000 sq ft in the future.
“This is an excellent opportunity for us to develop our remaining land in Scotland,” said Andrew Griffiths, managing director, Prologis UK. “This new distribution centre for Brake Bros – with forward funding from Standard Life – helps us rationalise our land bank.”
Cushman & Wakefield and Colliers International acted for Prologis, Gerald Eve represented Brake Bros.
