Chairman and chief executive of the Unipart Group, John Neill, has been awarded the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport’s Sir Robert Lawrence Award 2013.
Sponsored by DHL, the award was given to Neill in recognition of his contribution to the logistics and transport industry over a sustained period of time, in turn raising the sector’s status.
Neill joined state-owned Unipart in 1974 as a member of its parts and service division, of which he was put in charge two years later.
He later led the company’s management buyout and helped introduce its philosophy known as the “Unipart Way”.
He was awarded a CBE in June 1994 for services to industry.
