UK supplier of fresh, prepared, and bulk potatoes and vegetables, QV Foods, has renewed its contract hire deal with Ryder, hoping to generate cost savings of around ten per cent a year.
The deal will see Ryder provide a total combination of 12 new DAF XF105 and CF85 460hp 44-tonne tractor units, which will operate with a number of QV Foods’ existing trailers.
Based at QV’s March and Holbeach depots, in Cambridgeshire, the vehicles will be used to collect crated potatoes and vegetables from farms throughout the East of England.
“Ryder is now supplying telematics with the new trucks and, after training is completed, we expect to improve driver efficiency and decrease overall fuel consumption, to provide cost savings of around ten per cent,” said QV Food’s outbound logistics manager, Rob King.
