Yamaha Motor Europe is outsourcing its European spare parts operation to Yusen Logistics, as part of an initial five-year deal, effective of 1 January 2014.
Yamaha Motor Europe supplies motor products, parts, and accessories, for vehicles such as motorcycles, golf cars, and snowmobiles, within the European marketplace.
The new deal will see Yusen take over all operational activities at Yamaha’s European spare parts distribution centre, in the Netherlands.
The fully automated 30,000 sq m facility stores some 120,000 SKUs, and handles up to 3,000 orders a day.
“This deal is in line with our policy to now focus on core marketing & sales activities, and to outsource other matters to experienced professional parties, like Yusen Logistics,” said Hans Cools of Yamaha Motor Europe.
Managing director of Yusen Logistics Benelux, Piet Boogard, added: “Yamaha Motor is a well-known name in the market, and this contract means another big step forward in achieving our ambitious expansion plans.”
69 of Yamaha’s employees will also transfer to Yusen, as part of the contract.
