Aircraft manufacturer Airbus has renewed its lead logistics provider contract with Kühne + Nagel until 2016.
Under the contract Kühne + Nagel will continue to manage Airbus’ production logistics in France, Germany, Spain, the UK and China.
Bertrand George, head of Airbus operational excellence and responsible for the worldwide Airbus logistic and transport: “The contract extension with Kühne + Nagel fosters our long term partnership and we count on this strong collaboration to further improve the efficiency of the Airbus production logistics system.”
Kühne + Nagel provides a wide range of services including goods receipt, quality inspection, storage and pick & pack. And it has taken on more value-added services such as section handling, kitting, after sales support and wing wrapping for the A380.
A new logistics hub is due to open in Toulouse later in 2014. K+N will further deploy reusable packaging as well as taking steps to reduce recurring costs of ordering operations.
Kühne + Nagel has been handling all European production logistics operations for Airbus since 2008 Throughout the last years, the scope of activities and the geographical range have been extended continuously.
