The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) has named Schenker Deutschland the official co-partner of the German Olympic team, for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.
DB Schenker will handle all freight for the German team, on behalf of the DOSB, including transporting some 800 bags packed with the athletes’ official clothing, training and competition equipment.
The company estimates 140 tonnes of luggage and equipment will be transported by truck, train, and airplane, to the Olympic Village, competition venues, and the German House, which will host some 350 athletes and accredited visitors.
The equipment includes luges, bobsleighs, ski equipment, massage tables, and the two-metre tall DOSB mascot, Trimmy.
