The Freight Transport Association has welcomed the news that London boroughs will be awarded £17 million of funding for cycling improvements, which would include both cyclist and HGV driver training.
“As cycling grows in popularity it becomes increasingly important that all road users are aware of how to behave safely around each other,” said FTA’s head of urban logistics, Christopher Snelling.
The association recommends that its members operating in London should include instruction about vulnerable road users in their driver training.
“We also encourage all cyclists in London to take up the training on offer, so they can learn how best to stay safe around large vehicles such as HGVs.”
