Associated Newspapers has awarded a five-year contract extension to Bedfords Group to distribute The Daily Mail and The Mail On Sunday newspapers around the UK.
As well as The Daily Mail and The Mail On Sunday, publisher Associated Newspapers manages UK publications The Evening Standard, London Metro, and Ireland on Sunday.
Yorkshire-based Bedfords will now travel more than 14,000 miles every night, to deliver to some 60 wholesalers nationwide.
As part of the deal, the company was also named Associated Newspapers’ preferred supplier for all central London distribution.
“The move solidifies our plans for expansion in 2014, with planned new depots in the Midlands and London, as well as the current operating centres in Wolverhampton, Newcastle and Sheffield,” said Bedford’s director Phil Lockwood.
* Bedfords recently reported a 33 per cent rise in profits to £630,587 and turnover of more than £25m for the financial year 2012-2013.
