Suttons Group is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and has decorated four new DAF tractor units with the anniversary logo and Union Flag in recognition of their former livery.
The company was founded in 1954 by Alf Sutton with 18 vehicles and 58 staff following the de-nationalisation of the long-distance haulage sector. Last year, John Sutton, Alf’s grandson took over as CEO.
The company now operates one of the UK’s largest shared user chemical road transport networks, and provides services for the gases, food and petroleum sectors. It has operations across five continents and employs more than 800 people.

John Sutton says: “De-nationalisation, together with a rapidly expanding road network and burgeoning motorway system provided the company with the freedom to truly push technology and provide customers with alternative solutions.”
