South Yorkshire Police has launched a criminal investigation into the fire at the ASOS distribution centre in Barnsley after initial inquiries suggested that the fire had been started deliberately.
The police, working with South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, carried out an initial investigation on Saturday morning.

“The fire involved four floors of the warehouse and the blaze was contained in the area of origin by fire-fighters,” said Simon Rodgers, investigating fire officer for SYFR.
“ASOS staff had a good evacuation process in place which assisted the emergency services and allowed the fire to be brought under control more quickly.”
