Kuehne + Nagel is to extend its contract with MetaPack into the UK market in a move designed to enable retailers to offer more parcel delivery choice.
Under the agreement, MetaPack will provide Kuehne + Nagel with end-to-end delivery management integrated with some 200 carriers across Europe.
Then deal follows MetaPack’s takeover of XLogics, the German provider of technology for shipping and logistics, in December of last year.

The technology behind the operation is based on the integration of the XLogics Shipping Centre with MetaPack’s delivery management platform. This integrates with the Kuehne + Nagel’s Warehouse Management System CIEL, providing a single platform for managing shipping and delivery services to UK retail customers.
MetaPack chief Patrick Wall said: “Our data suggests that this year, UK retailers will handle approximately 900 million orders and 940 million parcels, signifying a 16-19 per cent growth compared to the same period last year. This is a huge opportunity for established players like Kuehne + Nagel to meet the demand for convenient, affordable and scalable delivery services, while helping retailers manage the growing volume of orders in the UK.”
