Aegeus Transport, the holding company for Roadways Container Logistics, has been acquired by Maritime Group. The deal completed on the 8th August includes, the entire company, employees and assets of Roadways, which is the fourth largest container company in the UK.
The deal includes 374 employees, a fleet of 241 vehicles, all of Roadways sites at Hainault, Felixstowe, Leeds, Manchester, Nursling in Southampton and the companys Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal at Birch Coppice near Tamworth.
Felixstowe-based Maritime has more than 1,000 vehicles and handles more than 10,000 transport moves a week.
The combined business will operate a fleet of more than 1,300 vehicles across the UK with depots at every major gateway as well a rail terminals at Tilbury and Tamworth.
Maritime group managing director John Williams described the deal as a strategic move and a really excellent fit with Maritime. Altogether the combined business will provide much greater scale, scope and services for customers.
