British retailers may no longer need planning permission to introduce click and collect services. The proposals would allow retails to build click and collect facilities, such as covered collection points as well as installing new loading bay doors and ramps without first seeking planning permission.
Penny Mordaunt, the Parliamentary under-secretary for the department for communities and local government, has said that retailers would be made freer to make changes to their premises and to allow a greater number of retailers to offer click and collect services.
Figures show that the UK is the biggest user of click and collect services with 35 per cent of online shoppers using the service, with the figure set to double in the next 3 years.
