Carlisle council earlier this week gave full planning permission to Stobart Group to proceed with their redevelopment of Carlisle airport.
The Carlisle based firm plans to redevelop the site include the development of a new freight distribution centre, a raised and re-profiled runway, new access and other infrastructure works.
In excess of 390 emails and letters were sent to the council in support of the proposal. Among the reasons for support was the belief that the development would impact positively on the local economy.
