Rubie’s Masquerade, the party and fancy dress supplier, is seeking planning permission for a 119,480 sq ft distribution centre and headquarters building at Wallingford.
The company supplies some 2,500 retailers from the party and fancy dress industry, including retailers such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, George at Asda, John Lewis, Toys R Us, Mothercare, Argos, Birthdays, Littlewoods, Bhs and Hamleys.
Rubie’s, part of the US Rubie’s Costume Company, has been located in South Oxfordshire for the past 16 years, and wants to centralise all its UK operations in this proposed development. It expects to create a minimum of 50 new positions on completion, with a further 50 over the next 5 years. The new site is only a short distance from its existing facility in Wallingford.
The 7.6 acre site at the junction of Hithercroft Road and Bosley Way in Wallingford would include a high bay distribution unit of 119,480 sq ft with second floor office and trade showroom accommodation of some 30,128 sq ft. There would also be a two storey headquarters office building totalling some 17,431 sq ft.
