Barwood Developments is to develop a 204,000 sq ft speculative warehouse at Huyton Business Park near Liverpool, after acquiring the site for £5.2m.
The existing 174,198sq ft manufacturing facility is leased to Goodrich Actuation Systems for the supply of aircraft parts to clients including Airbus. Barwood will commence redevelopment of the site in mid-2015 following the facility’s closure.

Andrew Dickman, director at Barwood, said: “Through the acquisition of this facility, we have an opportunity to ensure that the site doesn’t become redundant following the closure of the factory and instead, benefits from inward investment that will hopefully lead to job creation for the locality.”
Dickman said that Barwood is anticipating significant levels of occupier interest in the facility upon completion. Huyton Business Park is located at Tarbock Island interchange at Junction 6 of the M62 and Junction 1 of the M57. Liverpool John Lennon Airport is seven miles south of the site.
