General Dynamics UK, the Ministry of Defence contractor, has awarded a five-year contract to Wincanton to provide inventory management, storage and dispatch of secure communication equipment (known as Bowman) and tactical communication infrastructure (TCIS).
The contract follows a tender by General Dynamics UK, working with Wincanton, to become the MoD’s logistics service support provider.

Wincanton has been distributing Bowman equipment for General Dynamics from its Bicester facility since 2006.
Wincanton will collect 12,000 pieces of equipment per month, providing round-the-clock cover, and meeting the MoD’s one-hour collect and dispatch target for priority items.
Ian Menzies, senior capability director at General Dynamics UK, said: “The strength of our partnership with Wincanton and the success of our previous contracts with the MoD was an essential component in our bid to become the MoD’s logistics service support provider.”
