Booths’ has installed two tailor-made 6.5 tonne double deck lifts supplied by Transdek UK at its Bluebell distribution centre on the outskirts of Preston.
Transdek claims that the lifts can reduce transportation costs by as much as 40 per cent as they provide faster loading speeds and can carry greater volumes than conventional lifts.
Each lift has been built to suit specific requirements requested by the north-eastern regional supermarket. One lift has been designed to cater for ambient grocery products, while the second is for loading chilled food and drink.
Mark Glover, Head of Logistics at Booths, said: “Transdek was able to tailor the lifts to our requirements, install both modular units quickly and effectively, allowing the site to operate normally during the process.”
Both lifts incorporate safety features, including interlocked dock management systems, and energy saving technology, such as light emitting diode (LED) traffic lights and loading lamps.
