Ford has awarded a contract Yusen Logistics to handle less-than-truckload collections in Central Europe, for Ford of Europe’s Material Planning and Logistics function.
Under the multi-year contract, Yusen collects production parts and delivers reusable packaging from Ford’s Origin Distribution Centre (ODC) locations to more than 240 suppliers spanning southern Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia.

The car manufacturer started working with Yusen in 2006, awarding it the contract to operate its ODC or cross-dock in Prague, serving the European production plants with consolidated full loads of automotive parts originating in Central Europe.
In 2010, Ford opened its second ODC in Budapest. This is also operated by Yusen.
John Mitchell, Yusen’s head of the automotive vertical, said: “We are delighted with the award and the opportunity it provides to add value to Ford’s supply chain.”
