Furniture fittings and architectural ironmongery group Hafele has a new high bay pallet racking installation at its Rugby premises. The project was completed in “a matter of weeks” by SSI Schaefer.
Working in partnership with systems integrator Jungheinrich UK, SSI Schaefer says the new installation represents the second phase of what is a now 14,000 pallet capacity portal frame high bay warehouse and comprises four aisles of 23m high pre-galvanised PR600 pallet racking. Each aisle stretches to nearly 77m in length.
Pre-punched to allow ease of reconfiguration should Hafele’s storage requirements change in the future, another feature of the PR600 racking system is the use of ledges rather than beams on which to store every pallet. This provides flexibility for the future while allowing easier access for the fork platens of the automated stacker cranes operating within each aisle.
SSI Schaefer has also installed a 25m long structural base to support the racking above and provide conveyor access beneath.
