Parkfield Projects has finished a £2M design and build project to provide a new chilled distribution centre for Corby Chilled Distribution (CCD) at Newark, Nottinghamshire.
CCD, which provides temperature-controlled perishable consolidation services to the fresh food industry, delivers from five depots throughout the UK. It says that its continued growth has necessitated the provision of an additional facility and allowed it to take advantage of the latest state-of-the-art temperature-control equipment.
The 1,293sq m development is of a steel portal frame with double skin built-up cladding system to the roof and walls with independent insulated chilled store, partially suspended from a steel frame and constructed of prefabricated food safe polyester panel. It also has a separate two-storey office building attached to the side of the chilled store.
Externally, there is an insitu concrete yard and roads, car park, fuel banking system and vehicle wash for CCD’s vehicle fleet.
Fletcher King Howard acted as project manager for the CCD.
