Northumberland-based natural mineral water bottler and distributor Abbey Well has taken delivery of six high-specification Volvo FH12 tractor units on a five-year contract hire deal with Volvo Trucks.
The 4×2 artics have been specified with Globetrotter XL cabs as well as Volvo’s automated I-Shift gearbox with Ecopower software, which provides a higher torque in the top three gears with the aim of saving on fuel consumption.
Sourced from Volvo Truck & Bus (North) in Blyth, the trucks are distributing bottled Abbey Well mineral water from the company’s Morpeth base to on-trade customers – including restaurants, schools and universities – nationwide. Plated for 44 tonne GCW operation, the trucks replace old Volvo FLs and FM12s and will be maintained by Volvo Truck & Bus (North) for the length of the contract hire.
