Surface finishing chemical manufacturer Atotech UK is using The Potter Group to handle its long-term storage and international distribution. Atotech – its products include toxic, corrosive and oxidising materials – entered a 12-month agreement in March 2004 for all its product warehousing operations but The Potter Group’s performance convinced it to extend the deal for several years.
Multiple deliveries arrive daily from Atotech’s European plants and are stored in a high capacity warehouse on The Potter Group’s Droitwich site. The Potter Group staff prepare individual orders and ship consignments to Atotech clients in the Midlands and elsewhere, as well as for export.
The development follows a review of Atotech’s European business structure. With its existing two UK warehouses operating to lower level COMAH and further investment required to meet more stringent regulations, Atotech’s management decided to consider outsourcing product storage.
Atotech UK managing director William Southworth explains: “We recognised that our expertise lies in Research and Development, Sales, Technical Service and Marketing, and not warehousing. Our sales offices have full stock visibility through joint IT links and can launch an order within a few hours.”
The Potter Group’s Droitwich facility is fully equipped to Top tier COMAH and meets DSEAR standards.
