Gazeley has added a new 45 acre site located at XL NorthWest Business Park in Skelmersdale to its portfolio as part of its aggressive land acquisition programme. The new Gazeley industrial/distribution park, to be branded G Park Skelmersdale and estimated to have an end value of £45M, is situated near J4 of the M58 and offers excellent communication links to the North-west, and national motorway network.
The site, which has outline planning consent, was bought from the XL NorthWest Consortium of Landowners.
Gazeley is drawing up plans to deliver two warehouse facilities of 46,500sq m and 23,250sq m on the remaining plots of development land at the park. A reserved matters planning application has been submitted to The West Lancashire District Council.
The developer was responsible for kick-starting development at the now successful park, when it purchased a 32 acre plot to build a 32,197sq m purpose built distribution centre for superstore chain Asda in 2002.
Gazeley was unrepresented in the land purchase negotiations, while Colliers CRE acted for XL NorthWest Consortium of Landowners. Colliers CRE is letting agent for the new scheme.
