House of Fraser has enlisted the help of shrink management specialist Checkpoint Systems UK to provide a state-of-the-art retail protection system for its new flagship store in Croydon.
The Croydon store, which follows on from the City store opening in 2004, is the first of four new outlets opening this year that will be more than 9,300sq m – the others will be located in Dundrum in Ireland, Maidstone and Norwich. All the stores will feature Checkpoint technology.
Shrinkage in department stores is higher than the overall UK retail average of 1.59%. Large department stores, says Checkpoint, are a key target for thieves due to the vast array of merchandise on display.
Checkpoint has installed digital radio frequency (RF) security technology in 37 House of Fraser stores already. The Croydon facility features Checkpoint’s Style antenna which fits discretely into any environment, a new RF underfloor system using the latest digital technology and a wall system using the Trend antenna for covering wider aisle widths.
Jerry Carter, head of security at House of Fraser, says: “Through successfully minimising shrinkage at our other stores, Checkpoint has demonstrated its ability to continuously specify effective RF retail security solutions that have resulted in significant cost savings for the group.”
