Chelsea Stores Group, the children’s chain including Daisy & Tom and the Early Learning Centre (ELC), expects to generate supply chain efficiencies, improve product visibility and maximise in-store availability having awarded a £4M, four-year contract to TDG.
The multi-channel contract brings three distribution operations into a single stockholding facility at ELC’s Swindon distribution centre and managed by the third-party logistics provider. Initially using 2,095sq m of space, the facility will contain all wholesale ELC product sold by Sainsbury’s and Boots the Chemist and destined for distribution through their distribution centre networks.
The facility will also hold a central stockholding of core Daisy & Tom product lines, largely hanging garments, footwear and a limited range of toys, for onward distribution to its five children’s department stores. The remaining 75% of Daisy & Tom product lines will be delivered direct by suppliers to each store.
The Manhattan Associates PKMS warehouse management system is being extended from the existing Swindon centre to include the new facility on a common platform, ensuring complete product visibility across the group and enhancing inventory management and control.
