Leading provider of luggage and business products, Carlton Travel Goods, has appointed Amethyst Group Logistics Division to provide full warehousing and distribution support for its UK and European operation. Recently acquired by VIP Industries, Carlton has a long and impressive history as one of the leading travel goods brands in the UK.
The company’s financial controller and chief operating manager, Dev Pain, says: “In looking to outsource our warehousing and distribution needs it was essential that the new operation was up and running quickly, in order to maintain continuity of supply and protect the brand in what is a fiercely competitive market.”
Carlton selected Amethyst because it was able to respond to this need for rapid implementation – the new supply chain was in place within just four weeks – and meet the demanding service requirements of its prestigious high street customer base.
As part of the agreement, Amethyst manages receipt of goods from India and the Far East into its Leighton Buzzard distribution centre and delivery to Carlton’s retail customers across both the UK and Europe.
Amethyst business development director Martin Palmer says: “Carlton provides an excellent example of how these can provide the flexibility required to respond quickly and cost-effectively in meeting the customers’ needs.”
Initial volumes are around 3,000 to 4,000 pallets at any one time, but Carlton’s aim is to grow the business significantly.
