Taunton-based Langdon Industries is using six Scania rigid vehicles equipped with Thermo King multi-temperature Spectrum TS refrigeration, and ten semi-trailers fitted with Spectrum SL refrigeration, as part of a fleet expansion on its Chillnet operation. All units were supplied by Cambridge-based Marshall Thermo King.
Chillnet, Langdon’s partnership solution for the small volume distribution market, operates a national network serving hundreds of delivery points nationwide.
The use of multi-temperature refrigeration equipment, such as the Spectrum TS and Spectrum SL, allows Langdon to optimise flexibility, cost effectiveness and efficiency for small volume drops, delivering frozen and chilled goods on the same vehicle.
Graham Millard, fleet engineer at Langdon, comments: “We can have up to ten door openings on our multi-drop deliveries of sensitive goods such as meat and dairy products, so temperature pull-down and recovery is very important, especially in hot weather.”
Langdon has specified Thermo King’s S-3 remote evaporators in their vehicles, offering maximum temperature control in both rigid vehicles and trailers.
