DIY chain B&Q has become the first customer of Nightfreight’s new home delivery service – Deliver2home – having been awarded a £17.5M deal to the overnight freight, parcels and logistics specialist. Deliver2home plays ideally to Nightfreight’s strengths in delivering IDW (irregular dimension and weight) freight for the store-to-door two-man delivery of bulky, heavy and awkwardly shaped consumer goods.
On behalf of B&Q, Nightfreight will deliver a wide range of products from garden sheds, lawn mowers, barbeques, portable heaters or patio sets to radiators and children’s swings. Deliver2home service is contracted to deliver more than 250,000 consignments per year for the retailer.
“We are delighted that the number one DIY retailer in Europe has chosen the number one carrier of IDW freight in the UK for its home deliveries of IDW consumer goods,” says Nightfreight chief executive Rob Kelly.
