Nisa-Today’s, one of one of the UK’s largest buying group for independent retailers and wholesalers, has fitted all of the 130 lorries in its temperature-controlled fleet with Tracker Communicator vehicle asset management systems, which use the latest GPS and GSM technology. The system also enables fleet managers to access vehicle information, such as position and speed, via their own secure website, allowing companies to optimise the use of their fleets.
Tom Burns, account manager of chilled and freeze distribution at Nisa-Today’s, says: “We looked at five suppliers but we chose Tracker Communicator because it was easy to use. It’s web-based and the site is straight-forward to navigate around, and reports are simple to set up and read. In combination with a new engine management system we are expecting to make a substantial saving on fleet costs.”
With Nisa-Today’s temperature-controlled fleet making more than 9,000 deliveries every week, Tracker Communicator enables the service team to react and pinpoint problems immediately; evaluate journeys, ensuring planned routes and drop-offs are followed and driving standards are being upheld; and analyse weekly reports to identify patterns in diesel usage and mileage travelled.
Burns adds: “We have even used it to scrutinise our congestion charge invoices, and have been successful in disputing some of the charges we’ve been incorrectly invoiced for.”
