Turner Bianca, which imports fine household textiles, has taken delivery of two new Romadek HH1500 mobile dock lifts to improve handling safety in offloading shipping containers arriving at its Manchester depot.
In the absence of a loading dock, reaching goods at the top of a vehicle, up to 4m off the ground, presents a high risk of injury to loaders. The Romadek lift wheels up to the back of the vehicle and provides a safe working platform for operators to unload.
“Particularly useful for us is the easy mobility of the systems, as well as their safety,” says Dan Goodhew, site manager at Turner Bianca. “When not in use, we simply push the Romadeks aside to keep our doorways free.”
This operational flexibility is unique to the Romadek systems, according to Transdek UK, designer of the equipment. Separate hydraulic rams clear the wheels off the ground before the lift platform can become operational, ensuring a completely stable lift, while allowing the use of large, multi-directional wheels.
