IKEA’s distribution centre complex at Peterborough, which is operated by ND Logistics UK, has been supplied with high performance batteries by Hawker Traction to power the 67 electric lift trucks working at the site. Hawker has also provided several banks of advanced battery chargers which offer substantial reductions in mains electricity costs, while prolonging battery life.
The 58,200sq m distribution centre delivers to stores nationwide while a 26,700sq m unit is dedicated to making deliveries direct to customers. The lift trucks – reach trucks, order pickers, pallet transporters and gas and electric counterbalance units – are provided by Atlet, which specified Hawker’s new Perfect Plus high performance batteries for all the electric trucks. Each truck also has a spare battery.
