C&V Data Management Services is using SSI Schaefer’s new Regal 4000 two-tier shelving systems to store more than 70,000 boxes and 250,000 open files at its records management and document storage facility in Lutterworth. The facility houses everything from legal documents, such as wills and deeds, to commercial files and live patient records in a fully secure environment.
The Lutterworth complex could be the forerunner to other similar storage systems being opened elsewhere in the UK. C&V Data managing director Richard Mitchell says the company already has an option on another nearby building that will enable it to more than triple its current storage capacity.
The 930sq m facility uses both single and two-tier shelving from SSI Schaefer. Mitchell explains: “When we were the new storage facility we were unsure of the mix in terms of what we were actually going to store, whether it would be inboxes or open files. So we were initially looking for a storage system that offered us the flexibility to store a combination of both.”
Five aisles of bolt-free single-tier shelving was erected followed by the installation of the two-tier Regal 4000 shelving complete with mesh flooring, staircase access, loading gate and integral overhead lighting.
