Lilly Software Associates has released its wireless VISUAL Mobile solution into the UK market. The solution allows VISUAL Mobile users to access high-level summary information from Lilly’s VISUAL Enterprise ERP system using handheld PCs and wireless devices. Lilly developed the solution by combining the portability and convenience of handheld devices with browser-based Microsoft. Net technology, the high-speed working capabilities of Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) and direct integration to the VISUAL database without the need for a third-party interface. VISUAL Mobile helps companies stay responsive and agile by connecting them to real-time data.
Cannon Disposables has selected RedPrairie to provide the warehouse management system that will manage warehousing and supply chain execution operations at its distribution facilities throughout the UK. In Phase One of the roll-out, Dispatcher-WMS has been installed at Cannon’s warehouses in Harlow, Manchester, Mansfield, Birmingham, Southampton, Glasgow, Swanley and Exeter. It sees the use of electronic, computer-linked scanners to monitor receipt and despatch of goods from the warehouse. Phase Two will focus on the electronic monitoring of goods delivered to customers’ premises to ensure accurate and timely receipt.
A new system allowing distribution companies to control all of their operations under one “umbrella” platform while offering complete visibility to customers has been introduced by Deltion. Called the Deltion DepotNet, the system enables single or multi-site operators to bring together all of their different services under one “umbrella”, taking account of each site’s own delivery and collection runs, trunking, sub-contractors and local carriers. DepotNet enables customers to place an order online, and also see what stage in its journey their consignment has reached. It is designed to complement any other system that operators such as Deltion’s CarrierNet.
