Two 2.4 tonne heavy-duty Toyota powered pallet handlers featuring double pallet handling forks have helped the Fyffes Group’s Basingstoke site reduce the time spent off-loading bananas by 80%.
The pallet handlers are part of a large order placed by Fyffes with Locators to improve materials handling at the site. The rest of the order comprises two other power pallet trucks featuring Ro-Ro lateral battery changing, enabling the site to operate the equipment on a multi-shift basis.
The trucks capabilities have been further enhanced with the specification of a Deta Airflex+ System which only allows automatic water filling but also reduces re-charge time to a minimum through the introduction of cooling air into the battery via a special twin-rate charger and air pump system.
The Fyffes order also includes a new Toyota 7FBEF15 three-wheel forklift, featuring an AC power system for added efficiency, shift-life and out and out performance. The vehicle has a specially designed guidance system that enables the truck to work quickly and prevent
