Increased volumes of plastic trays and waste packaging from Tesco stores in the Midlands has led to a new baler being installed at the Christian Salvesen Recycling Unit at Hinckley, which operates on behalf of the supermarket chain.
Supplied by Middleton Engineering, the Presona 80 VH baler is capable of baling 13 tonnes an hour. The bales are then passed to Severnside for recycling.
Hinckley operations manager Alan Davis is pleased with the way finished bales are guided away from the floor area. He explains: “We had thought of installing an alarm system to stop bales piling up against the wall, but Middleton built this curved roller track that leads them down to the loading bay and out of harms way.”
Middleton sales manager Colin Millard comments: “The Presona is designed for a better than 20-year life and some of our customers really driven then hard. After 20 years we have taken many of then out and refurbished them through our works, so they still have a value.”
