Triumph Motorcycles has expanded into purpose-built premises adjacent to its Hinckley Works to ensure that its production lines runs smoothly – its 13 different models are assembled on the one line at the same time. With anything up to 4,000 components being used and customers “eagerly awaiting delivery”, move has enabled Triumph to increase production when necessary.
Having installed a conveyor production line at the existing facility, the manufacturer turned to Conveyors International to remove it the existing conveyor production line from the existing factory across to the new plant, which was shut down briefly for the installation and erecting of the necessary supporting steelwork could be carried out.
The newly installed conveyor supports each individual bike that is attached to a cradle, allowing easy access for all parts of manufacturing process. Once completed, the bikes are detached from the cradle, which returns automatically on the overhead conveyor. This part of the conveyor runs above the production line and is enclosed in a cage for additional safety.
