Culina Logistics has opened a new facility that adds 7,998sq m of temperature-controlled warehousing to its current distribution centre portfolio. The new warehouse, located in Higher Heath close to Culina’s £26M Market Drayton site, provides a further 6,000 pallet spaces to fully support the chain requirements of new and projected contracts. It also provides the company with additional capacity to accommodate anticipated organic growth of existing customers.
Higher Heath or Market Drayton 2 (MD2) is ideally located to effectively integrate, where necessary, outbound volumes to ensure cost-effective distribution and maintain service levels.
The facility is equipped with brand new racking and a bespoke warehouse management system. Its suite of technology will match that of existing sites and will provide customers with the same functionally, features and benefits they have come to expect from Culina.” Around 50 new jobs have been created.
A three-year lease has been agreed for MD2. Meanwhile proposals have also been made for the expansion of the main Market Drayton facility and the company also aims to develop its national operation with a new site in another UK location.
Commenting on the opening of the additional facility, Dale Fiddy, commercial director of Culina Logistics, says: “This £2M development enables us to enhance our services proposition to current and prospective customers. I believe it will further establish Culina Logistics as the leading provider of supply chain solutions to chilled food and drink manufacturers and retailers across the country.”
