Nightfreight’s integrated Network Logistics division received a major boost when it was awarded a £5M contract by manufacturing logistics service provider Jungheinrich. The minimum three-year agreement covers the transport throughout the UK of Jungheinrich’s forklift trucks and handling equipment. Jungheinrich’s central facility at Leighton Buzzard will spearhead a nationwide operation which uses both Jungheinrich’s and Nightfreight’s network of sites.
“This new contract is great news for Network Logistics,” says managing director – logistics Tony Pattemore. “Our track record in the mechanical handling sector, and provision of a bespoke scheme designed to meet both Jungheinrich’s logistics and budget requirements, were the main influences in securing the contract.”
Deliveries will be carried out by a dedicated specialist fleet with Nightfreight also providing ancillary services for urgent replacement of equipment for major contracts and additional storage to cover seasonal peaks.
Nightfreight’s Network Logistics division brings together the benefits of dedicated distribution and the flexible cost and operating structure of Nightfreight’s broader network, comprising three sortation hubs, 50 depots, seven logistics sites and Pacemaker, its specialised two-man delivery network.
