HarperCollins, one of the top three book publishers in the UK, has awarded a new three-year contract to Exel to manage its inbound supply chain from Asia and consolidate books from its ‘Preferred Printers’ in the Far East, to its hubs in Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok. It is expected that the company will transport around 4,500cu m of books by sea to the UK each year.
Implementation of this initiative has been gradual but successful and could lead to other similar developments in Europe. Paul McAdam, regional sales manager at Exel says: “Our proven track record and global network strength along with our ability to provide a cost-effective, highly visible and flexible solution were some of the key drivers in securing this contract.”
