Hagermeyer UK, which specialises in electrical, construction, industrial and safety product distribution, recently brought together more than 300 suppliers at its very first “Supplier Forum” to outline major changes within its supply chain. It is understood to be the first time that “so many of the UK’s leading electrical and industrial product manufacturers have been together at one event.
The forum gave Hagermeyer the opportunity to discuss openly with its suppliers the future of the group and its operating brands Newey & Eyre, Parker and WF Electrical. Its overall message was that it has been fully reorganised, re-grouped and ready to grow with a clear vision for the future.
Delegates were also briefed on a powerful new “hub and spoke” logistics model which will be fully integrated to serve the individual needs of the business brands and their customers nationwide. Hagermeyer says that “this exciting new model” will result in quicker delivery times, improved stock availability and reduced costs across the whole network, which will be capable of supplying any one of up to 100,000 SKUs from the company’s £20M national distribution centre (NDC) in Runcorn.
Angus Fraser, chief executive at Hagermeyer UK, told suppliers that customers were the driving force behind the changes to the Hagermeyer business and to its operating needs. He said: “Our customers want the widest choice of products in stock, all delivered from a distributor who understands who they are and knows how they want to be served.”
