ABP Connect is investing £1M to expand current facilities at its Hams Hall Railfreight Terminal on the outskirts of Birmingham having secured a new two-year agreement with rail freight operator Freightliner. The new facilities will enable Hams Hall to accommodate the increased throughput that the new daily service is expected to generate.
The investment covers the construction of 11,800sq m of additional container-storage space and buying a fifth reachstacker.
As with Freightliner’s existing service from the Port of Felixstowe to Hams Hall, the new intermodal operation will move container traffic to England’s industrial heartland.
Left: Hams Hall will benefit from increased throughput as a result of the two-year deal.
