Matthew & Goodman, acting on behalf of Ingersoll-Rand, has secured the sale of a 12,090sq m production facility on 10.9 acres at Swan Lane, Hindley Green, as part of the continual restructuring of Ingersoll-Rand’s manufacturing operations in the UK. The quoting price was £2.5M and a deal is believed to have concluded close to this figure, within seven months of taking the instruction.
The disposal was completed on time back-to-back with the closure and decommissioning of the plant. Ingersoll-Rand were particularly pleased to have sold the property to a local manufacturer, Corbett Packaging, who as a result of the relocation will invest heavily in the local economy and creating new jobs.
Andrew Aherne, associate at Matthews & Goodman, comments: “The disposal was achieved in an incredibly quick timescale considering the purchaser needed to obtain planning consent for an 80,000sq ft extension prior to completion. This reflects the strong demand there is for economical but good quality factory facilities that are available on freehold terms.”
