Palletline has further invested in its hub infrastructure to manage the continued strong growth in pallet volumes. The company has expanded capacity at its Birmingham hub by leasing of a new 8,184sq m building located at Merlin Park, close to the existing site. The additional ‘satellite’ hub will be used as a transshipment centre for all economy (48/72 hour) freight.
Palletline’s existing hub will continue to process all freight for next-day delivery, as well as Irish and European traffic. This new development allows swifter throughput for all freight. It gives Palletline member companies and expanded time to load and prepare deliveries for the following day in their own local areas, enabling them to offer improved services to customers across the UK.
Commenting on the development, Palletline chairman Bob Russett says: “Implementing an additional hub to manage economy freight provides Palletline with much-needed capacity and at the same time builds on our reputation for market leading service quality. Our goal is to provide benchmark levels of service to both our members companies and all Palletline customers across the UK. This investment enables us to manage high levels of growth delivering outstanding service quality, both now and in the future.”
