NYK Logistics (UK) Manufacturing & Retail has won significant further business with Tesco. The company has worked for Tesco since 1991, providing solutions to a wide range of the supermarket business’ supply chain requirements within the non-food product ranges, including clothing, stationery, toys and garden furniture. These are high volume, fast moving operations, handling product destined for all the UK stores.
The new business has involved creating an interim solution for Tesco including sourcing a high quality warehousing facility and implementing the operation within a short time frame and without disruption to the customer.
NYK Logistics is now supplying Tesco composites and distribution centres nationwide from the new 16, 740sq m warehouse in Milton Keynes, as well as its existing operation nearby. The new business follows on from NYK Logistics’ success in providing robust solutions to a wide range of requirements for Tesco.
Examples include major operations for seasonal products such as the highly successful WIGIGs – When It’s Gone It’s Gone ranges. These special lines, often electrical goods, are sourced by Tesco on a one off basis and NYK Logistics rapidly assimilates stock on a large scale prior to launch.
NYK Logistics was also appointed Lead Logistics Provider (LLP) role for the high profile launch of Tesco’s Cherokee casual clothing range. Fundamental to the role was the company’s experience in handling Tesco’s clothing range as well as its proven ability to accommodate seasonal packs in demand.
The company also has operations for Tesco in eastern Europe and the Far East, providing highly effective operations within specialist areas of the supply chain.
