Morris Transport, which specialises in transporting fresh meat, has specified Thermo King’s satellite-based Trac-King fleet management system on ten new Gray & Adams trailers. The units, which are equipped with Thermo King’s SL-400e refrigeration units, are distributing fresh meat nationwide as part of a dedicated contract with one of Europe’s largest meat processing companies.
Peter Morris, director of Morris Transport, says: “Our customer requested a remote monitoring facility to be fitted to the trailers. The main concern for our customer is the temperature of the meat inside the trailer – so it made the most sense to use a bespoke system for the refrigeration unit.”
Sourced at the manufacturer, Trac-King speaks directly to the refrigeration unit’s onboard microprocessor to provide the most comprehensive information possible. It provides information on refrigeration unit operation including alarm codes, temperature set point, discharge and return air temperatures.
Morris adds: “It is also extremely convenient for our customer as they can monitor the information themselves directly over the Internet, and have it easily accessible in case of any problems – providing them with real-time information not only on the location of the vehicle, but on the temperature inside the trailer.”
