n Home furnishings retailer Ikea has installed mobile shelving at its distribution centre located at Armthorpe, near Doncaster, which has enabled it to save up to 50% of floor space. Supplied by Linpac Storage Systems, the shelving is being used for archiving documents.
n The mobile system at the distribution centre features 1,200mm wide bays of adjustable document shelving. The units run on steel tracks which have been mounted into a raised, particle board floor. To access the required aisle, operatives move the bases along by turning the handles situated at end of each aisle.
n Commenting on the system, Ikea contract manager Mattias Rönngard says: “We decided to use Linpac Storage Systems because their design maximised the cubic space of the area without altering the existing height of the lights or the ventilation units. In fact, this was achieved with clearances of just 30mm.”
