OCS Transport Services Division has bought a new fleet of Hi-Lift vehicles so that customer British Airways (BA) can keep its passengers supplied with creature comforts. Four specialist scissor lift platform vehicles, made by Saxon Norquip, have been taken on by OCS to rise alongside BA’s wide-bodied aircraft and keep them stocked with a variety of dry goods such as blankets, pillows, headsets and in-flight magazines.
Rob Powell, OCS transport manager, says: “These specialist vehicles are a major long-term commitment by the business – more than £360,000 in total – in our work for BA. We needed them so we could maintain our high standards, ensure the continued quality of our service to BA, and meet Heathrow’s increasingly stringent environmental standards.
“The platforms can carry payloads of up to 5,000kg – enough to re-stock three wide-bodied aircraft – which makes them far more economic than previously used smaller vehicles.”
